The West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for Long Island, Inc. (WIBCC) is a non-profit 501(c)3, grassroots organization founded in 1992 working to eradicate Breast Cancer and gynecological cancers. WIBCC was directly responsible for the first comprehensive cancer cluster survey in Suffolk County which lead to a multiyear Long Island breast cancer study mandated by Congress in 1993. Our mission is to provide support services to women - undergoing treatment and requiring post-mastectomy care - with our “Lend A Helping Hand” program, and to actively promote cancer and environmental awareness with education, advocacy, and outreach throughout the community.
To accomplish our mission, the WIBCC’s focus is to press these goals:
Prevention
Support, encouragement and education about a healthy lifestyle.
Research
To promote legislation to increase funding for environmental research and provide funding for specific breast cancer projects.
Education
Providing up-to-date information through our website, newsletter, information packets and educational seminars. We offer adult and student awareness programs designed to help participants increase their awareness of Breast Cancer and gynecological cancers.
Services
To offer breast and gynecological cancer patients services paid for and facilitated by the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition via the Lend A Helping Hand Program.
Support
To provide support and referral services to breast and gynecological cancer patients and their families.
Lend a Helping Hand
