The West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition (WIBCC) is thrilled to welcome Robin Roberts as its newest Board member. A native of West Islip, Robin is a licensed social worker and therapist with a wealth of experience serving diverse communities, including victims of domestic violence, substance abuse, homelessness, and the chronically mentally ill population.
In addition to her extensive background in social work, Robin is also actively involved in her family's business, which has been in the plywood industry for 44 years. Her varied experiences have given her a unique perspective on the challenges faced by those affected by breast cancer.
At age 39, Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after seven years in remission, the cancer returned. Today, three years later, she remains in remission and is healthy, happy, and active. Her personal experience with breast cancer has made her a passionate advocate for breast cancer awareness and research.
WIBCC is confident that Robin's knowledge, experiences, and positive mental outlook will be invaluable in its mission to serve the breast cancer community to the best of its abilities. Her commitment to supporting others who have been impacted by breast cancer will undoubtedly make her a valuable asset to the Board and the organization as a whole.
